Donald “Butch” Britton, FSA
Former CEO of ING, US Insurance Solutions BusinessButch retired in June 2014 after a 38 year career in the insurance industry. He currently is a Principal with Insurex and a Partner in Britton, LLC which provide services to the life and annuity industry. Prior to his retirement he served as CEO of ING, US Insurance Solutions Business, which he helped IPO to Voya. Prior to joining ING in 2004, Butch was President of the Life Division at American General Financial Group. His experience also includes 18 years with First Colony Life Insurance Company, culminating as President and commensurately senior positions at GE Financial, which acquired First Colony.
Britton holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from East Carolina University, Greenville, NC. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Considered to be one of the leaders in the IMO and BGA markets, he has been honored as the recipient of the Douglas Moore’s Award of Excellence presented by the National Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (NAILBA) and the National Underwriters Industry Elite Award for Market Innovation.
He has served on LIMRA’s board of directors and also served as a director of LL Global. In addition to those organizations Butch has also been on the boards of The American College and ACORD. For a number of years in various companies he has served as the head of sales and marketing as well as product development. Over the years he has considerable experience in M&A, distribution and market innovation in the middle markets and at the conclusion of his tenure at ING, benefits.
Butch is married and lives in Palm Springs and Wilmington, SC.
